It is thus the kind of DEI that I would not think ANYONE could possibly object to. And yet it's being gutted across the country. Some of this is because this administration is hateful, but some people who think Trump's attack on DEI if OK might not think so if they thought about 2 year colleges.

Consider this community college President, talking about initiatives that target women and people of color. Durham, where his college is located, needs more people. The community college is going after people who might not think of themselves as e.g. possible factory workers.

He asks: is this DEI? Apparently the answer is: yes. "A day later, DOGE killed a couple of dozen federal grants supporting female workers. Durham Tech learned that among the canceled grants was one from the Department of Labor that funded the Hope Renovations partnership."

The other thing to note is: community colleges are insanely important for what remains of the American Dream. They let people get trained for jobs we really need, and help them become manufacturing workers or HVAC specialists or electricians at tiny costs.

Even if we don't pay attention to the people involved, with their dreams and aspirations -- AND WE SHOULD!! -- these costs will surely be recouped in a pretty short time, as people get better jobs and pay more in taxes. It does take government support to do this, but it's well worth it.

Last point: if you're wondering how to help undo some of the damage done by this administration, this article might provide some pointers. Look at the screenshot below, for instance. There are surely lawyers looking for some wy to push back against Trump. Here you go.

There are also emergency funds for students who need some sort of crisis funding to help them stay in school. As far as ways to help undo some of the damage, community colleges seem like a target-rich environment. It just breaks my heart to read about this, though.

The DEI you mention helps people of color, which the white supremacists see as prima facie anti-white. Let's face it -- the fascists and racists basically can't compete if the field is anything like level.
