What are some viable alternatives to spotify, now that they're bucking down on AI slop? I've paid for a little over a yr, & despite the 💫problematics💫 i've rly loved it, learned of new music (i've been utterly BAFFLED by how to do that in the last 15 yrs), so it's sad but time to cancel i guess...

I really like Pandora and have had an account for twenty years now. Excellent recommendation software and great sound quality, too. Bandcamp is really great as well. I use them both almost every day

in that this evolution sucks for musicians & fans, yes. i used to learn of new musicians on spotify, buy albums on bandcamp, listen on itunes, then 6 mos ago i got new devices & itunes is apple music, & music bought elsewhere regularly vanishes from it. i don't know how to buy music AND listen to it

I switched some months ago from tidal to qobuz, which seemed to be the most ethical solution and is a bit less convenient overall but generally quite good

oh i haven't heard of qobuz...was your switch because of their treatment of artists?

actually I'm not sure anymore lol. @daisyletourneur.bsky.social do you remember why qobuz was better than tidal in the end?

I listen to Radio Paradise for learning new artists, then to dive more deeply, I use Tidal. Radio Paradise is honestly the best, though, and it's user supported.
