The BBC complained about being inaccurately summarised by AI. The AI said falsely that the BBC news had reported Mangione, the accused in the United Health insurance CEO killing, had shot himself. Not true and the BBC had not reported it either. How the AI came to that result I have no idea.
Sounds egregious and the kind of mistake a human asked to summarize the story would not make. Plenty of false rumors are in the ecosystem, tho. In my limited experience summarization is something the LLMs are quite good at. I wonder if there is something about integrating current info that is flawed
