We as a society still waste obscene amounts of food. Composting is not a solution but raising prices on convenience manufactured foods and forcing grocers to pay farmers for less than perfect food sold separately from “perfect” produce would allow low-income buyers a choice.

Water during emergencies must be available, but it can be distributed as distilled water in large containers. Companies which extract groundwater to sell for pennies in plastic bottles must now have licenses retracted because communities need their spring water for citizens to get out of their taps.
