This is not the first time VA hospitals have been closed around the country and it won't be the last. I have a better idea......why not let Veterans go to private doctors and the VA pay for their visits, etc? It would be cheaper and the Vets get better care.
He didn't get it. He committed suicide in 1995 after trying for 30 years. If he got the care he needed from the VA he may have lived.
Studies show that many veterans receive part of their care from the private sector. Studies also show better outcomes and higher satisfaction for veterans within the VHA.
It's actually the reverse. The private sector is more expensive and the care is crappy. The private sector is not as experienced or capable of handling the specific ailments and needs of the veteran community. What you said is always the GOP line for selling their bullshit.
I disagree. My dad worked for the VA and my husband was a patient so I know how patients are short changed in VA hospitals. My dad was the first person to use music therapy on patients. It was dumped even though it was proven to work. My husband needed counseling from his time in Viet Nam.
It was not perfect; it offered the only hope for most.
You can disagree. I have personal experience too through my father who was a 100% service connected disabled vet and we've known many people too. Basically, I can find multiple horror stories from the private sector for every VA horror story. And I'm going to be on the VA system over private always.
With this administration being the shit show that it is, I think the VA is in BIG trouble. I worry about the patients in the hospitals and the employees.
I went to DC June 6th and saw the vets and family of vets and VA workers and even VA doctors gathered there. I don't think they will roll over and take this. They believe in the system like I do and know it's worth fighting for. The vets are a large percentage of those standing up right now.
Not to mention my dad who is rolling over in his grave.
The Heritage Foundation and their oligarch donors want to do away with all government social programs. They are social darwinists. Russell Vought at OMB has anyone who gets anything from a gov't program in his sight. They have planned this since Reagan targeted VA emergency services in the '80s.

We have more power to fix the VA system than we do the private system. Except with the social darwinist GOP who don't believe in the VA.
