Just in case you were curious how much it costs in the US to take an ambulance ride 3.5 city blocks after catching a trolley track with your rear bike wheel and breaking your clavicle at the shoulder, that bill is $960 flat, $495.80 after the limp state of US health insurance does its thing.

The salient info is already text in the post. This is just a photo of the second bill I received (after calling to provide my insurance info upon receiving the full bill) as documentation (cropped to exclude any PII).

I’m over-explaining this a bit, but: I’m in the illustrious position that I can afford this cost. I expect my (and my insurance’s) doing so defrays the cost of similar ambulances collecting injured folks who can’t afford that. Maybe the State could provide for that latter set better?
