Generational wealth is often transferred to children by way of inheriting a home. This can help kids pay for debts, or finally get out from being renters. I don’t know about your upbringing but I was able to get out of credit card and college debt when via inheritance. It was a huge reset button.
I am sure the folks with land will still be able to transfer to their kids. These nonprofit coops are mostly for folks that would have ended up in apartments or living with their adult children.
