Thank you for your open minded approach! I think others have said similarly, but as for the "don't own anything", I think the best example is housing Most leftists agree that owning a house that you live in: totally fine and great actually Owning the house that *somebody else* lives in: very bad

When right wingers say "communists want you to own nothing!" they are doing the exact same thing as when they say "the estate tax wants to steal your inheritance!" Well, 99% of people aren't inheriting a billion dollars so the estate tax doesn't affect them. Same with the means of production

I will never understand the logic in being a worker who is getting exploited by your company while passionately fighting for them to continue to profit off of your labor at your expense. 99% of people defending capitalism don’t own any means of production.

Much as I would like to see alternatives, the way that the economy is set up right now is not conducive to other means of income. There was a spate of “Grow your own chickens” responses, which were all from people who do not know what it takes to raise chickens, and which ignores the fact that …

… people who live in dense cities cannot grow them in the first place. I have often worked for family businesses, so the top of the corporate ladder was not very high. Here’s hoping we can get more traction on the backswing, and that we can block the downward spiral that we are currently on.

I think that a movement away from federal/centralized dependence is coming, and I think that a more localized way of doing things will be required. Getting a ton of things from china is not realistic when there is no world stability. The ones calling the shots have never had to (fill in the blank).

Aha, now you've waded into the waters of leftist infighting. Welcome, comrade! (The joke here is that there is a never ending debate between those who believe in a centralized "communist" economy vs those who believe in a decentralized "anarchist" economy)

Well, when infrastructure implodes, local will be the only choice. I would guess that the majority of people have no idea as to how much we rely on freight transportation and electricity. Some people think "I have enough food in my freezer to last for months!" Ok, when the power goes out, what then?

You can't find the logic in it for the same reason you can't find a good ski resort in the middle of the Sahara desert People who do that aren't acting logically. They are exhibiting a conditioned response which has been reinforced by indoctrination One reason why mutual aid > electoral politics
