This. Besides the cost, this is why I stopped going to the doctor. I got tired of being told it’s all in my head. The last doctor I saw yelled at me and that was over two years ago. I left and never returned.

Oh my god. Outrageous. It took me decades of gaslighting to get my diagnosis of HEDS, that I was born with. I finally had to do the research myself, at 43, after years of medical abuse. I still had to pay these bastards for their malpractice. One even told me: “Oh, I heard about you.”

Whew I know the feeling. I have EDS and doctors thought I was just med seeking. My POTS was written off as anxiety. An emergency room said I was faking a seizure so they called a social worker in to see me once 🥴

Oh lord. I’m sorry. And insurance companies are furthering the abuse. I’ll die screaming about this. Trying to make people aware. This is not a rare condition, it’s just rarely diagnosed, and it affects every organ. In the age of information, there are so many willfully ignorant doctors. A travesty.

This past year, I’ve had to travel to find knowledgeable doctors. I’d be more than happy to share the information that I glean from them.

I found a doctor in Phoenix so it’s just a matter of getting there and the cost. I’ll probably have to use my HSA unfortunately ugh

I see. There are a few who do virtual and can help with POTS and MCAS. I hope you’re getting the help you need.

Yep. I have chronic illness and get better results treating myself than relying on doctors to take my symptoms seriously (this isn't to say don't see doctors, vaccines and meds are lifesaving). I can't imagine what its like if you're a Black woman/woman of color with disabilities/chronic illness.

Same. It took me over 20 years to finally get diagnosed with endometriosis. Doctors kept saying it was gas 😒

I still go for routine bloodwork and tests. I did learn to limit what I say to my doctor simply because I can tell he is ignoring nearly every thing I say. I’ve been actively looking for a new doctor in the meantime.

Over three years ago, my legs became very weak. Ended up in the hospital for 21 days. Came out needing to use a walker to get around. Have needed one ever since. My GP sent me to a neurologist. She found nothing. Since then my GP has brushed off any mention of the fact that my leg still don't work.

I feel like I’ve had to become my own menopause specialist and after seeing 3 different female Drs I still can’t find one that will work with me on HRT. It’s absolutely frustrating and ridiculous.

I’ve been dealing with peri for 10 years now and it has just messed me up. Plus exacerbated ADHD, PMD and anxiety. So, I get it.

It’s a fight every time you go in to get taken seriously and for them to actually listen to your known experience that—when you aren’t feeling well anyway—it’s often not worth the trip. I find most doctors to be is patronizing to women patients. I’m pretty outspoken and I do my research & I dread it
