My (Republican) FIL made my husband come over so he could see “all these drones everywhere.” When hubby got there, his dad pointed to Venus, two stars, a helicopter, and a small plane. Critical thinking is not a R’s strong suit.

He did! Hubby is very good at backing himself with facts (and is a bit of an aviation nerd) so he was able to talk sense into him. And to my FIL’s credit, he’s willing to change his mind from time to time, given the right circumstances (they’re rarely right, but it sometimes happens!).

I think he did for Venus & the stars, and I think that’s why dad was amenable to the idea those three weren’t drones, after all! There’s an app or website or something for what planes & helicopters are transponding nearby, too, and that solved the 🚁 & ✈️ “mystery drone”!
