Your position makes sense if you include the unspoken assumption that there is a party opposed to oligarchy. Otherwise the poster above you is correct.

No, arguing Citizens United undergirds all problems—even all American political problems—is ridiculous, especially if you were politically aware prior to Citizens United. It’s just not a serious opinion

I would point out that the historical examples we have of democracies regressing into an aristocracies are all driven by increasing wealthy control over government. Rome and Venice being the major ones. Pointing to citizens united is pointing to a milestone in that process.
