Seems good for everyone involved except the country waging a war of conquest against a smaller neighbor

Weird how the country doing a heckin imperial military invasion is the only one who can do anything that works but nothing that could stop it could work. Funny that

Would you say that Russia's military performance against Ukraine has been in any way commendable

Genuinely how? They pretty clearly intended to regime-change ("denazify and demilitarize") Ukraine and incorporate all or most of it into a union state along with Belarus. I don't think the Russians would have gone for it if they knew they'd still be stuck in trench warfare three years later.

They’re winning as in they’re accomplished any of their stated war aims? 1. Force Ukraine to swear off NATO membership (no) 2. Seize Kyiv (lol, no) 3. Annex all of Donetsk and Luhansk (no) 4. Keep NATO off it’s borders (somehow no in an unexpected way) So how?

Where the efforts so far have included a pittance from the US and Russia sinking its military supremacy into this, why is your solution that the US should cease its pittance and not that Russia should cease an effort that has eliminated its status as a meaningful global power?
