Serious question: we keep talking about the US "deporting" hundreds of Venezuelan nationals to this "prison" in El Salvador. But if they were actually being deported, wouldn't they be sent back to Venezuela? 1/

If they are simply being "detained" in ES, wouldn't that detention end when their deportation status was determined? Under what authority can the US just imprison people (criminal or not) in another country, not their country of origin, indefinitely? 2/

Has the government offered any explanation of how this process will play out? Since the US is paying for the incarceration, doesn't that mean they are technically still in US custody? If not, are we really saying that we can just turn people over to whatever country we want and just wash our hands?

I dont think this is a “policy” pissin-match bwtn SCOTUS/DOJ/Trump; it’s an “Immigration Law viol ”by Trump admin. Garcia wasn’t afforded “due process” with notice and ability to defend himself. Proof of claims are absent. He must be returned. Full stop. Ps: what ever happened to “admin error”?
