Thank you for writing about this issue. My family was directly impacted by internment during WWII. My maternal grandparents were sent to Tule Lake with my mother born there, and my father's side of the family self-evacuated to Colorado.
Better save this now before we lose this because "woke DEI" or some other BS because people can't handle that history IS uncomfortable!
Basically, the executive wants to make this "camp" a black hole, a place where, aside from the imprisoned victims, no one except the private prison company and its guards may enter or leave. It is worse than an internment camp.
Hey Joyce, did you see this? Barry Moore got ran out of a SECRET Town Hall www.al.com/politics/202...
Thank you Joyce
In a way, the Indian Reservations were huge internment camps.
Oh definitely. And the children were taken from their parents and homes away to be "civilized" in schools. A travesty and nightmare.
Ironic that posse comitatus was part of the end of reconstruction- a concession to southern states to not use the army to enforce civil rights. Now being used as a cudgel to prevent civil rights
Can we hide this post from George Takei?
I wake up every morning and after a few moments of calm I begin to wonder if something horrific happened. When will we be able to wake up unconcerned?
Not suitable for children
I've just been reading about the internment camps set up for the Cherokees prior to the Trail of Tears. Some 2,000 died in them even before being sent on a journey that would kill tens of thousands more. Internment camps are sadly common in our history.
Living History. 💔 bsky.app/profile/geor...
It has been resurrected
If they have really decided to spend $1.2M per detainee, yes indeed, it is the worst misuse of OUR tax dollars in the history of OUR Country! And that doesn't even appear to cover the continuing costs for maintaining the facility or for feeding those UNTRIED Individuals in a court of law!
Alabama prisons might as well be internment camps.
Why are we here? Justice department is corrupt Congees is Awol MSM is awol Misinformation galore
Somewhere there was a push by the private jail and prison industry to enhance their falling revenues with a new market - undocumented people.
Next, homeless. Someone has to replace the undocumented's jobs, but for free.
Just watched a Cold Case about Japanese internment camps
