Two wrongs don’t make a right.
It’s only temporary, though, nothing has changed, none of the causes of crime or homelessness has been addressed. It’s a complete and total waste of money that could be spent on actually fixing the problems. It’s infuriating that no one’s talking about this.
Could we please stop with the “stopping crime” ruse? Crime at the Mall was minimal. They’re being stationed in areas that weren’t high crime to begin with.
The biggest criminal of them all is running the show right now. As long as they are living free, the crimes won’t stop.
Simple answer… no 🇺🇸
Put the finds to additional law enforcement personnel. And ideally preventative programs.
Crime is a symptom that the system is broken. Not the cause of its demise.
He can only be stopped if a SCOTUS bothers to stop him, and they do not seem inclined to do so.
To those three in the picture: 🖕
Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." www.npr.org/2015/03/02/3...
Yes
Doesn't have to be crime, does it? Just anything under the purview of presidential duties according to our corrupt, conservative, right wing, Republican Supreme Court. So economic policy, diplomacy, national security, public health, energy, you name it. Lord Dampnut is a true fascist tyrant.
Now he may want to soft pedal it for a while, get Americans used to the idea of no democracy, no liberty, no freedom, no US Constitution, no rule of law, etc. Just baby steps thus far. But one supposes he may start to get a bit bolder if he feels his power stable enough to crush all opposition.
I mean, for the most part the damage has already been done, it's just that the shell of the democratic USA is still walking about like a sort of zombie, and some suppose it still a living entity. But conservatives, Republicans have the courts, laws enforcement, military, so ... you know ...
It is neverending. What will it take? How far will this go?
No!
The fact that this discussion is occurring, means the bullshit is working.
I hope that I am alive one day to see Trump and his lawless regime held accountable for everything that they have destroyed and everything they are planning on still destroying.
Yes!
Please, stop giving the crime BS even a passing justification.
No.
My great grandparents left Germany as Hitler came to power. Everyone thought they were crazy. Look they said, he's cleaning up the streets, cracking down on immigrants, making us stronger. Why leave?
I’m no Scholar - But seems to me, Impeaching Rogue POTUS can only Proceed if - 1. Litigants have control of the House, IF NOT 2. Litigation includes Members from Opposition, to reach the Majority Vote. A CONSTITUTIONAL FLAW - If Rogue POTUS has a Corrupted House Majority in Cahoots with His Crimes
No. Never
He is so far
Do we have a functional Supreme Court? Does Congress have a spine?
Not trying to stop crime. Invasion of blue states to show power and control. Worse crime rates in red cities.
Well he can FUCK OFF, you know, if he wants.
Stopping crime is bad. Stopping illegal is bad Stopping government Fraud is bad Respecting the flag is bad. Ok. We got it.
I think Gov. P should activate his National Guard to stop Trump's troops from entering. It's going to take force to stop force. We need a line in the sand and quick!! Arrest the troops as they enter Illinois!
www.reuters.com/legal/govern...
The president got a get out of jail free card from the Supreme Court. Right now he seems to be untouchable, unless something changes.
Governors should be instructing their county police to pick up these law breaking military and hold them for prosecution for violating the posse comitatus.
Not just a resounding NO…HELL NO!
Keep the population in line is the key. www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/gui...
That's a timely question given that Trump has escalated his "stopping crime" mission to include the extra-judicial murder of 11 Venezuelans on a boat.
Strictly 18+ and English messages only
Does anyone really think there was no crime when they enacted posse comitatus?
No one is stopping him
This is how he gets troops in our streets city by city so when he cancels the election or people take to the streets to protest his unconstitutional executive orders without needed to rely or declare martial law.
Yes, Trump can do whatever he wants. The only people who could stop him are all mesmerized minions.
Only if crime is defined as litter.
I can't believe you even posed this question.
Stopping crime? Are we going with that?
I thought the same thing. They know it’s a pretext. Stop pretending it’s anything else Joyce.
This episode was way too sanguine. Joyce was saying that Courts and the law are still a check on Trump. They aren’t. I’m not saying we shouldn’t continue trying to use the Judicial system, but at this point, it’s lawyers delusion that “the courts will save us.”
I was a little unsure because I have so much respect for her, but damn.
'stopping crime' is a false premise/narrative - NG in DC are picking up garbage and spreading mulch...
No, the power of the office of the President does not extend to the internal administration of the states. Should a state be attacked by a foreign power, the military comes to the rescue. Someone needs a ticket or arresting for a crime- it's the police for that state. No exceptions.
He’ll no
"Stopping crime" in this case actually IS the crime...! The military and the police are two completely separate organizations with completely different purposes. As judges have ruled, it is illegal to use the military the way Trump is using them domestically. So THAT is the crime.
*one of the crimes
Yes, YES he can. Why, because we DON'T have the moral courage to DO ANYTHING at all.
Trump hasn't earnestly set out to stop crime with his antics but he's definitely been gunning for unchecked power
Always enjoy your podcasts. Just finished listening to this one, very interesting and informative. You and Preet do good stuff - thank you 😊
Most corrupt regime in American history, hands down. The abandonment of any semblance of ethical restraint on the WH squatter and his robber baron family is in keeping with his obsession of returning the US to the late-19th century.
He's certainly going to try. Whether he succeeds or not depends on the courts.
No. The money Trump is spending would be more effective if given to the cities to bolster their police enforcement.
