I recently ripped out 1700sqft of lawn to turn it into short grass prairie. (Denver) Buffalograss and blue grama will be the bulk of it.

YES MOAR BUFFALO GRASS Mom insisted on a huge, "lovely" bluegrass lawn.. in Aurora.. I don't think I need to comment further on that.

I tried last year with all seeds but the weeds got out of control and I couldn't get ahead of it (also didn't cut deep enough with the sod cutter so the lawn came back). Now I'm solarizing and starting over with plugs in September. Also building a wildlife hedge! Native roses and currants mostly.

Hedges are my favourite 😍 good luck with it -- id be really interested to know if laying it is an option or if your hedging plants prefer just being trimmed in shape.
