I know people in every Country would say support Canada. I honestly don't know how our Government would react. The Aussie people would demand we support Canada.

I think everyone has been quiet because we are currently allies of both Canada and America. You are in NATO so Article 5 should see NATO support you. Maybe initially Australia would go neutral whilst pressuring America diplomatically. I genuinely believe many Americans would support you.
Also I believe many in the US Defence Force would refuse orders to attack Canada. This would trigger a US Civil war.
Silence speaks volumes. There is no trust in Article 5 for our defence from another NATO member. NATO didn't speak up. Not one person. Europe has already said it's arming for themselves against Russia, we would get peanuts at best. There are no rosy filters here. And there is no American diplomacy.
I fully understand. We don't trust America to ho our our Defence allience with Trump we're we attacked. Most Aussies don't support AUKUS and want to build Defence alliences with others and ditch America.
People do support us and we've been caught by surprise at the extent of "niceness" that's come our way. Govs is another matter. When Charlie Angus was still MP he made the response he got at a NATO conference public: dead silence. From everyone. We had to take a stand, grassroots resistance started.
The world has started boycotting America initially to support Canada. Now also to protest how Trump is treating us all.
In fairness I think tge last think NATO ever thought they have to consider is one NATO member threatening another this way. Until Trump, America would be one of the last Country's you'd think would threaten to invade friends and allies
All knew Trump. Especially NATO. They dealt with V1 & knew V2 would be worse. Can't excuse their turning their backs on us. Our soldiers are buried all over Europe. That was a hell of a slap to each of us and an insult to a nation who ensured peacekeeping worldwide and answered every call for help.
I like Charlie Angus he is a good man and a tally a rare politician as he is honest
