Like I said, it's my understanding that as part of the procurement process now, systems manufacturers are required to provide digital specs and plans that DoD can warehouse for future repairs

Having had to learn a lot about this recently for [actual job], even when they own the specs they often don't have the capability to manufacture those pairs and have to go through the contractor anyway.
