we got our asses beat for playing ding dong ditch because it was rude. There were day sleepers in our neighborhood who were getting up at the butt crack of dawn to make our bread, bottle milk, print newspapers. Kid should not have died. But we shouldn't be teaching kids to be little shits either.

The proliferation of guns and stand your ground laws have made it much more dangerous to approach a home. In the US, people are shot and killed for knocking at the wrong house, and for turning the car around in a driveway. Be careful out there (and don’t play ding dong ditch).
