The far-right is doing well in Europe. The EU did nothing as Hungary was taken over by a dictator. Then far-right Trumpists took up the reigns in Italy and Poland. I think we got lucky in France and in this country, but maybe not for long. I voted Remain, but I don't see the EU as saviours.

Fair point Ani. I am however sure that the EEC/EU as a whole has been fundamental as a moderator , and to preventing conflict. Remember only a couple of years ago Tories were genuine in their threat to use Royal Navy gunboats to forcibly exclude French vessels from England’s “sovereign” waters
