People who study trees are Arborists or dendrologist. Entomologists study bugs

I know that, being not only interested in etymology but entomology as well. I was referring to trees that walk around being "ents" (from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy), so it was kind of a nerdy in-joke, the sort for which I am unfortunately well-known.
