Really? Sakamoto lost me within 2 episodes, it just felt derivative, esp in the humour and the action felt neither stylish nor funny, it raised the power stakes way too fast. I wish this budget had gone to Way of the Househusband.

Well that's not even a contest, House husband could've been way funnier with good animation. Or, uh, literally any.
Was Sakamoto around for a long time before getting adapted? The sidekick loser guy feels like a carbon copy of the one from Househusband. As for One Punch as far as I'm concerned that was a completed work after 1 season.
Agreed. And no idea, I just like it more than SxF
I liked SxF a lot just for how it did romance… didn't like how hard it tries to have nothing to say about politics, real vibe of "I know I'm not sophisticated enough to have a take on cold war spying more interesting than espionage being preferable to war"
It's not the politics, it's that it doesn't go anywhere. It ends on a cute, broad, very comforting note and it's back to the jokes and we he never get anything stressful or nuanced. Their fake relationship never really starts to spark and there's nothing else to hook onto.
I've not seen the end yet. What I mean is they are all brought together by the political circumstances and a better writer could've had that conflict and the romantic tension intertwine. Not expecting say Disco or Le Carre here but it just kept adding characters and aspired to say less than Bond
Yeah, definitely. It needed more of an all encompassing narrative, and I feel like it was too scared of ending early once it got popular
It's too bad, an unbelievably good premise.
That first bit where he pulls the grenade pin and gives it to her is so fucking funny. And I love weirdo Yor! Forced to grow up too fast is a great character for an assassin! It just feels like eventually it turns into "haha, she is a ditz" and it's so boring
That promised a lot! And the drunken fight they have in the castle, should've foreshadowed them becoming enemies so they could then fall in love for real. The kayfabe should wear on them! They should be 2 sides of a cold war with Anya and Dog being the metaphorical innocent who suffers
