While I was teaching one of my closest friends was our custodian. When he would come into my classroom at the beginning of the year inevitably one or two children would ask who he was. I would always tell them he was the most important person in our school. “As important as ____? (the principal) 1/
“More important”, I would say. One day I passed a 5th grade student leading new children to our school around while introducing them to all of the staff members. When he got to the custodian’s little room, I heard him say, “This is Mr. ______. He’s the most important person in our school.” 2/
