Big Pharma and Insurance companies spend INCREDIBLE amounts of money on advertising…Why? Because they make INCREDIBLE amounts of profit off of life and death.

I'm so sick of all those drug commercials on TV make it stop!
Pharmaceutical companies weren’t allowed to advertise prescription drugs until 1983. Yet another legacy of Reagan, the second worst president of my lifetime
so very very true
Yes, it's shocking! :( www.forbes.com/sites/robert...
I say this with every item I buy. Cut out the flyers, fancy packaging & etc. That should lower our cost
TV ads with dancing diabetes patients🤦🏻♀️
For sure
🤬
Used to be you rarely saw TV ads for prescription drugs. Now they are everywhere. I think it started in the late 1990's when they began pushing their anti-depressant cash cows.
Outside the US, it is unlawful to publicly advertise prescription-only medicines, including prescription-only weight loss medicines, on TV, radio, social media, newspapers, magazines, billboards etc. In 🐷💰Capitalist USA, they can, because they see a financial benefit, to public sell them to anyone.
America - It’s kind of like a bunch of Coen Brothers movie plots perpetually playing out simultaneously.
We really need to get our shit together
It should be ILLEGAL!! Ambulance chasing lawyers should be illegal as well. Hello Dan Newlin.
Did you know that there are only two countries in the world where Drug manufacturers are allowed to advertise their drugs. And yes the US is one of them.
There's always that weird dance between the pharmacy, insurance company and physician!
There is no dance with the physician. They are left holding the bag after the other two take their “fair” share.
28years ago before the Communications act of 1996 went into effect the insurance companies warned the government if they passed this bill allowing pharma’s to advertise, that it would lead to self diagnosis and boost Dr visits to get the latest medication. The opioid crisis is a direct result of it.
I once got a prescription for 50 pills that cost over $100. I told the pharmacist I couldn't afford that each month. He showed me off the shelf tablets that did the same thing at about 1/3 the cost. Always ask the pharmacist...later he found me discounts for my other pills.
Yet many of the ads have a blurb at the end, stating that there’s assistance available with the medication’s cost. 🙄
Just asked my doc about the weight loss shots. She said insurance usually won't cover them - they say it's cheaper to cover a heart attack. $1200 every month.
Does your doctor know about costplusdrugs.com ? They don't have Ozempic or Jardiance yet, but they might have something else you could use.
I had a really hard time getting my hands on Mounjaro. Insurance told me to do a year of Metformin first. But I had been taking that for 4 years. Then Jardiance, until they changed their mind. Finally, got Mounjaro this year and it doesn't work. Next step: surgery.
Akward Dancing!
$35 is just for Medicare. With insurance it costs me $40. $35 for all was a plan for the 2nd term
... in Mexico it's $16 and in Canada it's $12.
In Australia it's $7.29
It's infuriating that Democrats didn't require this label on every prescription
These were the things that he did. This was not publicized during the elections. Dems were chasing the tails the whole election cycle and not on the offensive once
That’s because they’re relying on “concepts of a “better” plan! 🙄🤨
Thought I had the justification to “ad lib” a little with the quote…heck he doesn’t even know how to quote!
the prices will probably gamut sometime in the next 4 years
Every R voted against it!
I'm sick of seeing ads on TV for drugs that I don't need
I’m so tired or all the commercials. All they do is make me wonder if that is something I should worry about.
They don't bother with researching new antibiotic research because curing a disease isn't good for their profit margins.
AMA same thing some of these hospitals look like Vagas resorts.
Thank you for highlighting this. I've been going to for a while. Looked it up & only .08% of people go to their Dr & ask for something they've seen advertised & Drs usually do NOT prescribe that med. Yet what are the majority of ads we are forced to see on TV?
I remember when this started. I couldn't believe we had drug companies saying "tell your doctor you need this drug" even though your doctor isn't telling you that you need it. I thought, who is so stupid that they would fall for this. Silly me.
Big pharm also waste a lot of money on drug reps that prolongs your doctor visit. Pretty sure the drug reps helped accelerate the opiate addiction.
very much a US comment. drug companies rarely, if ever, have a direct relationship with a patient or even primary care giver. i pay a tiny amount per month for a huge number of meds. i order them online and then pick them up 24 hours later. it's the old "health is a human right" kind of idea.
Got a source for this? I did a bit of googling. Yes, they generally spend more on advertising than R&D but not 19x.
Pharma ads are the worst. Gratingly irritating. For all that money you'd think they could make less annoying ads. They should be illegal though, no matter how they come across.
we can all take a more active roll in our health to avoid the pharma machine ☠️
We are of only 2 developed nations that allows pharma ads. The rest of the intelligent world banned them.
I miss the days when they couldn't advertise. Same for lawyers.
STOP BUYING MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS! PERIOD! THEY ARE *NOT* REAL MEDICARE! THEY'RE PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES THAT *FOOL* YOU INTO BELIEVING THAT THEY ARE! LOOK IT UP@ GOOGLE IT FOR FUX SAKE! STOP BEING A FVKN VYKTUM ALL THE GOT DAM TYME! 🤬🤬🤬Now, you got *US* pulled in to your got dam s#!t Sik o u
That’s INSANITY!
their "phoney happy" ads are beyond ANNOYING!!!!
Yes, THIS! Magazines, 3 page ads! TV, TikTok. So sick of them!
Ask your doctor if Heart Attack is right for you, or if Diabetes will kill you first.
I never understood why there are commercials for drugs? Like you go to a doctor, tell them what your diagnosis is and what drug you want?
No kidding. I know all the jingles
Never
