Third Way can piss up a rope.
Third Way can piss up a rope.
Democrats shouldn't use most of these terms.
Nah, they're mostly fine, and even the clanky ones are just clanky.
Nobody's saying you can't use them.
Except this weirdo. bsky.app/profile/john...
"Democrats" I assume means "elected officials," not "randos on the internet."
So you're fine with censorship as long as it targets a small group of the population.
why
Democrats should build a media infrastructure so, like Republicans, they can say whatever they want & make people like it. They should also criticize every word out of Republicans' mouths & force the MSM to do the same.
Sure.
“Micro aggression” is one of Matt Yglesias’ faves to say about women who basically don't like him. Researchers have long used “food insecurity”, why would we not use that? And, “privilege”? We’re not supposed to use privilege in the United States of America? That’s nutty.
Are you a Democratic politician?
I vote for them. And if they didn’t talk about those things I’d think they were Republicans. Except micro aggressions. Like I said, I mostly hear that from incels.
You'd think they were Republicans if they don't say "holding space" or "body shaming"?
And I said if they DIDN’T talk about privilege and food insecurity I’d think they were Republican, not if they did.
Well, “holding space” is a common phrase among Black people, so no I wouldn’t think they were Republican. I also wouldn’t have any issue with it. And the idea that it shouldn’t be used sounds racist. I don’t hear politicians use “body shaming” much. I don’t think there’s a lot of policy around it.
The notion that one shouldn’t say “body shaming” if one were being body shaming seems strange. So no, I don’t think that should be on a list of phrases that can’t be used.
I present you the "third way democrats". The III. Path or The Third Path (German: Der III. Weg, Der Dritte Weg) is a far-right and neo-Nazi political party in Germany. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_W...
Who still listens to them and why?
The founder and ceo was a top Schumer staffer for years lmao
*Screams into the void*
Well obviously that’s who listens to them lmao
Some of them (like “holding space”) aren’t effective because they’re not well defined terms. But “incarcerated person”, “food insecurity,” “housing insecurity”??? Like wut? These are terms to describe policy.
Third Way is less than irrelevant. The ONLY people they have any influence over are DC insiders who are irrelevant themselves
"It's a beautiful thing, the destruction of words." (George Orwell, 1984) www.goodreads.com/quotes/55300...
They're just Republicans at this point.
Depending on the audience, I would probably advise against using most of these in a stump speech. The real problem here is that 3rd Way doesn't just want to police the language, they want Democrats to abandon the principles underlying the language.
