Too much of the world is in denial. Their minds are closed. Not sure any improvement in messaging will help until those people personally feel the pain of environmental degradation and it’s too late. I’m sorry you had a negative experience; hopefully you’re finding like-minded friends here.
But if there is no target market here, how do we reach those who voted for this?
Go where they are, and proselytize?
Actually, I do that as a guest lecturer on cruise ships. I talk about nature, crops, ecosystems, etc. Here's a post about my first in 2017. I hate the cruise industry but I have to give you props for taking the message to a captive audience. Maybe a few attendees added native plants to their home gardens after hearing your presentation.
Yes, it's been quite effective, especially on the longer cruises where I give 10 or more lectures. It's like a whole semester course only more fun. In 2024 I did a cruise to HI & back. I filled the 675-seat theater. They simulcast me into a sports lounge with screens for another 200 people.
I think we have to win people with issues that do interest them personally like the dangers and costs of floods, how drought affects grocery prices, health effects of smoke filled air, spread of diseases etc. and relate the environment to their own needs. As an abstract issue it doesn’t register.
There is crossover music... Can't we turn this into a crossover issue? To me, environmental collapse seems like a SHTF issue. Surprisingly at TEOTWAWKI forums, people seem determined to keep their heads buried in the sand. Hard to imagine anything that is a more desperate end of the world issue.
