Post WW2 all of Germany's cities lay in ruins, it's infrastructure didn't function, it was flooded with refugees. It's politicians rebuilt it from there. Then again on reunification. Putin? He's taken far more away from the Russian people than he has provided.

Putin has been in overall power since 2000, 55 years after the ravages of WW2. Other European politicians faced the task of rebuilding their countries from 1945. I'd say that many of them deserve much more credit, not only for what they achieved but also how they achieved it.
