I keep seeing so many posts about releasing the Epstein files. I can’t imagine being a victim, being brave enough to come forward and share your trauma, only to feel like the only way you’ll be believed by the masses is by a release of papers. They’ve already told us everything. Believe THEM.
Not by the masses but to use it against Trump & the Republicans.
I don't know if the women who are going to speak on Sept 3 are among those who filed claims and received compensation from the compensation fund, but it they are, they were believed by the compensation fund.

Well if we want convictions for the monsters who were preying on those victims we also need the evidence. Believing the victims doesn't get evil cunts off the street. Releasing the files will.

No one suggested that at all. But to get convictions against possibly some of the worlds wealthiest people you're gonna need more than that, because that's the legal system, and that's the reality we live in. You can't just tell the jury to believe the victims. That's not how it works.
The gender credibility gap is well documented, particularly in the legal system. Male testimony is considered trustworthy and additionally, juries and lawyers have gross bias about how sexual assault victims are supposed to behave. The problem is the real life bias against women, not “reality” 🙄
little roleplaying. You're a DA. You have the option to bring charges against a child predator with a 99% chance they walk away and elude justice forever. Do you do it? Or do you try to get the evidence that 99% puts them away for good? Which one?
That is missing the point I'm making entirely. Even if that's true it's completely irrelevant to the problem of charging people with serious crimes on just someones word they did it. Like, you're refusing to understand why that would be a bad thing and why it usually doesn't happen.
Convictions are made all the time based on testimony. Women don’t report it, and don’t get convictions because they aren’t believed. This is a historic problem in our country, because if women were believed, we wouldn’t have Clarence Thomas or Kavanaugh… My point stands.
Show me a single crime that got a conviction that happened 10+ years ago relying only on the testimony of a single witness. Go ahead. Now find me one where the defendant was a billionaire with infinite resources. You probably can't do the former and we both know you couldn't do the latter.
There are plenty of cases based on solitary witness testimony. It’s not my job to educate you.
It's not really about not believing them. It's about all the things they can't tell us. How many abuser names can we find? How many of those women disappeared off the face of the earth entirely? There are a whole lot of questions that still need answered.
Not that it can compare, but we seem to be going through a phase where more people ignore facts and believe lies.

Some of the victims have got together and they will be speaking at a conference on Sep 3rd. They are pissed, rightfully so, that they’re being neglected/pushed aside once again by the obscenely rich abusers & Republican politicians who are obviously protecting Trump. Should be interesting.

I agree. However, as a victim, I'd want to have all files released so that those who did wrong, get due justice. It's time. I believe the women, but it's time for prosecution.
