As soon as you said pray, I said nope. We do not need leaders who don’t know right from wrong without a religion directing them. We don’t need men in power who use the Bible to guide them.

politician is exceptionally popular in his home state politician makes good things happen and blocks bad things politician aligns with a vast percentage of HIS constituency you: this is bad actually
So you’re an idiot and a simpleton. Congrats.
Reddit moment
Calm tf down. So what if he says "pray", is THAT where you're gonna draw the line? 70% of this country is religious (I'm not), so if you only have atheists in power then you are creating an un-representative government. What matters is do they use religion to contort policy, or to drive kindness.
Or do you think the core thrust of the entire Civil Rights movement was also bad bc it was deeply rooted in organized religion within the African American community?
Do you know ANYTHING about Roy Cooper, his history of helping local communities in North Carolina, or his decade-long shakespearean struggle against the far-right GOP legislature in North Carolina? That saga makes how McConnel treated Obama look TAME. Cooper has dealt with an INSANE level of GOP BS.
You must be religious. You clearly don’t understand what I’m saying and need some deep introspection and education to understand me, the times were in, why we’re here, and how to get out if it.
I'm atheist
Also a reminder: - A HUGE chunk of Democrats in the south are African Americans who are religious. - All those swing voters who turned out for Cooper in his gubernatorial victories? Most of them are religious too. - As a reminder, AOC said he Catholicism drives her views on healthcare & environment
Guys I think these are troll bots or sumthin
Just feels super astroturphed ya know
And yet, Cooper was a very popular governor in NC that has a strong track record. So, whatever he’s doing seems to be working. And that should be enough for you.
you’re gonna stroke out when you hear about MLK jr
You all are so funny. It’s like you can’t see what’s going on in the world and just want to keep these religious battles going—through politics. I don’t need to pray to know that MLK was right about racism. He didn’t either. He prayed to find hope in a VERY shitty world.
*Reverend* Martin Luther King Jr. He was a southern Baptist minister. Nobody cares whether you pray or not. Maybe read a book, though. The library is free.
We don’t need unthinking and intolerant bigots involved in politics, so kindly see your way out.
Seems like we agree then. Do you think you knew right from wrong before you learned your religion? I’m not saying a person with a religion can’t lead. Maybe he’s a great human, but if he’s praying for answers, I’d prefer he use his thinking and logic.
What does it even mean for something to be right or wrong? Is there a real property that determines if something is right or wrong? Is it a consensus-driven thing? Like, what’s your theory of morality dude?
I guess you don't need the votes of anyone in North Carolina then.
Cool cool cool. You want a Democratic party with 30 senators. Sounds great.
Literally the first post on your profile is a retweet celebrating Barack Obama, a politician who cited scripture and talked about prayer regularly
I sure hope this dork is sentient enough to actually think about this very obvious point, but the committed anti-theists tend to be harder to convince than any other religion. 😭
lmao

get his ass
The bad faith chaos agents are out here labeling themselves
These people are living in an imaginary world where faith isn’t an important part of many people’s lives and discussing it openly isn’t a good way to try and win over these voters. There is a good way to talk about it (Obama and Colbert) and a bad way (literally the entire conservative movement)
Irony is that these folks don't know how important religion is to most people because most people aren't as annoying about it as the examples they use to shape their criticism.
The main trait I am currently looking for in any politician is "Will you stand up to and work to dismantle fascism." I don't care if he uses the Bible, the Quran, or the Sports Almanaqc from Back to the Future as guidance as long as those things are goals.
