First-year student stopped me in the library to ask me, "Hi, I'm new here, and I'm just looking around. Where are all the books?" Reader, I wept. (*the college culled the physical collection and, put those remaining in high density storage in the basement.)
A student asked me this when I volunteered at our community college library. The books were present. The student didn't look around, just beelined to the desk with their question. I pointed to all the books.

I guess it's a popular question.
This more or less happened to my college library as well about a decade ago.
It's much the same here and there are often delays with retrieving books in storage. It's awful.
