The joke is that IRL, some animals are trained to 'paint' to amuse viewers. The animal applies random colours as it doesn't understand what art is. The twist is that this gorilla is portrayed like a human artist, upset that their art with deeper meaning is being dismissed as 'oh that's cute.'

1/ Frames 1 and 2 set up a normal expectation that the gorilla is a normal zoo creature, i e., that doesn't "think" about art in the same way as humans do. It's "cute" when we view animal art.

2/ Frame 3 *totally* destroys the set-up expectation and reveals that the gorilla is deeply artistic, neurotic, intense and is recovering/smoking, from being most likely very upset that the audience called his art "cute". 🤣
