Sounds like the advantages are mostly for telecoms providers and the customer benefit is just a side effect π

not exactly, in fact i'd hazard a guess that 5g networks are more expensive to build out and maintain, especially if you've already got a 4g network the advantages are in capacity and the ability to serve unevenly distributed stations (e.g. when 40k people cram in a football stadium)
