It's the number one story on the BBC website!
It's the number one story on the BBC website!
Only 48 mins ago, though.
Performative outrage takes many forms.
It’s also a story from 2024.
7th on The Guardian website at present, and first in their business section.
It is now. It wasn't when she posted originally.
Cone on, let’s enjoy it when it happens!
Not true, I heard it top story on the news at lunchtime
It’s been on the World Service all night on the hour and half hour.
Great. UK is selling more arms. How is it I am not excited about this? Could it be that I don't like war. As well as being bad for the people caught up in it, it accelerates climate change and is disruptive to the global economy. But let's all forget that and make sure media cheer this Labour "win"
Sadly Putin doesn't care.
Norwegian chiming in here. I’d quite like more deterrence in the Arctic, thank you very much.
Like any Faux Outrage it goes around the comfort of their own bubble before anyone checks
I am shocked to discover that once again the Mainstream Media is refusing to cover a story that the Mainstream Media is prominently covering. (Well us and the Beeb)
Been the lead story on BBC LR networked news bulletins.
The order is the largest in nominal terms but how do you compare it with the order for 2 Dreadnoughts from Turkey before WW1? (Churchill seized both on outbreak of war)
It certainly wasn't when that post was originally posted
Tbf it’s wasn’t on the bbc 3 hours ago
Yeah, in fairness that post about an hour before the BBC article was published
So, an account named "...Labour Comms" wanted mass media coverage by simply copying and pasting press releases? I personally prefer the analysis and context in the BBC and others articles
The same place they are as regards Climate change.
Bet sky news go to jon craig stood pointlessly outside a hotel looking like a skysports reporter on deadline day 1st though.
I got a FT push notification about it.
Just heard it on the news
It’s leading radio news
Not a word about it on #R4Today between 7-8am or 8am headlines on #BBCBreakfast. You'll never guess which story was first item for both!
The other day I heard a BBC news bulletin that didn’t mention immigration once and was generally quite positive.
Some people just want to be outraged and/or are desperate for attention.
The answer to "why is no one reporting on this?" is almost always "they are"
With a very occasional 'give it an hour because the only places reporting yet are the ones who just copied and pasted the announcement straight in and hit 'publish'.
But that describes the BBC....
Exactly. There is only one other answer, which is "because it isn't news, it's an ongoing thing reported at the time that just happens to be your pet peeve"
I mean, the mainstream media *does* have massive biases! But it's not usually 'simply omitting stuff that is indisputibly important' kind of blatant. Similar to the urge whereby some people think they can solve decades-old cold cases after five minutes' googling.
