The Trump Administration is breaking things beyond repair. Literally, they're breaking fundamental things so badly that they are not repairable. Even if we magically get the House & Senate back next year WH 2 years later (and that's a HUGE assumption), we won't be fixing, we'll be rebuilding.

Better to accept reality because then you have a much better understanding of what needs to be done. Pretending shit isn't as bad as it is, or is it's just a simple 1st term rerun does us all a disservice.
Like you said, even if we win back those agencies, how long will it take to reverse the damage alreasy done? Can it even be done if SCOTUS is still against us. The people who believe in Trump's message will still believe after he's gone, and will do anything to stop us from suceeding.

I try not to be a 'doomer' but looking around, especially after all the crap that happened yesterday, I honestly feel like this nation is like the Twin Towers, just after they were hit, but before they fell. I feel like the fall is nearly inevitable now. And it will take DECADES to rebuild.
A lot of this stuff can be fixed by Republicans in a matter of days. They aren't going to do that. So, we will be screwed trying to fix it if we have to wait
And every step of the rebuilding will be over loud protests of Republicans spinning the wildest conspiracy theories which will be dutifully amplified by the media

One aspect of this heartbreaking problem, is that so many of our institutions were built to keep the public benefits limited to white people whenever possible. If we are rebuilding, we must build on a foundation of institutionalized equality, or we will simply build the colonizer nation again.
You're right. And good luck with the rebuilding because to do that, you need smart people. Trump fired all of them. They won't come back. The damage done to this country is incalculable. Plus the trust is gone. And that's the entire point of what they're doing right now.

I am a political scientist. I am still going to fight till I die, but our democracy, way of life, culture are gone. You are correct that it will be a complete rebuild. But with climate change accelerating, the prospects of war become more and more likely as resources dwindle for us all.
Agreed. It's hard to see the light at the end of this tunnel we're barreling down. And it's infuriating to see how clearly none of this had to be.
I am right with you mate! We cannot deny this is the end anymore. People need to come to grips with that. The fight takes on a different hue when we just accept that. To many people who know better are still in denial. We need to face the facts, civilization's have failed over and over.
You are not being a doomer. 99% of the population has no idea what is happening. For everything that is covered for a day, 10 other things have happened behind the scenes which is even more harmful. Also, one must assume, we do not hear or see more than half the crap to destroy us.
