I -hate- having to sit through a video for something I could just read. Ugh. There are tik-tokers out there whose whole thing is just reading articles into a camera, and it makes me sad. How pathetic that is. EVERYONE needs to read more!

I’m a millennial and I agree. My absorption is faster and stronger with written word. The irony for me is that my parents (both boomers) now almost exclusively consume via YouTube.

I completely agree. I despise YouTube for that very reason. I don’t want your commentary on how to fix something, I just want the instructions! And I don’t want to have to fast forward or rewind to get to the step I need.

Reminds me of the TV news people who tell you what you just heard yourself from an interviewee/someone giving a speech. Because apparently we can only understand what was said if we hear it secondhand.🙄

I’m a visual learner & I still hate it. How to videos are fine but not articles. I want to read the article. I don’t trust some rando & I may not trust the article. I’m looking that up too. LOL.

Yes! And the worst is when the caption (or the person sharing it) is misleading and I’ve forced myself to break my no video rule for a payoff that doesn’t even come. And usually just a rehashing of something I’d read a few hours or days earlier.
