Amidst the frontal fascist assault on the country, one cannot emphasize enough how the Real Folkz language policing of the elitist centrists is at best a tenth-order problem right now, not least, as @andycraig.bsky.social notes, because every smart Dem operative in Real America already knows this.
Slotkin wasn’t the most inspiring speakers at the ‘24 DNC. Not that many watched it. 12,500 full capacity stadium in Nampa, Idaho went to Fight the Oligarchy on a Monday to see AOC and Bernie. Whose name recognition is a lot higher than hers. The word “oligarchy” isn’t the problem.
Haven’t we heard this song from centrist Dems before? If only the Left would stop using all those complicated WORDS, then we shall be victorious! Aside from being incredibly arrogant and condescending, it also shows that these people are utterly unwilling to seriously engage in root cause analysis.
Maybe just my opinion, but our leaders should use basic and accurate terms whether people understand or not. If you don't understand "oligarchy" then Google that shit so the adults can talk normally in the meantime.
We might know more about What Democrats Must (Not) Do to reach out to Real Folkz if the folks who control the National Conversation™️ could tear themselves away from the NYC mayoral race & maybe talked to some of the Democrats involved in getting Susan Crawford elected in a landslide in WI, etc. 🤷♂️

The GOP has run a very effective preemptive framing campaign, which is reflected in the stats that they are actually using all the “funny words” because they spend so much time messaging about how Dems talk.
