This is also a “why complex systems fail” thing. Complex systems always have parts that are failing, and it’s humans throughout the system doing the right thing that keeps things going.

Using the Kennedy process of diagnosis: I looked into the eyes of Bove and shuddered as I saw the dark abyss roiling with despair, death, and indescribable evils. Now, I'm going to 'research' phrenology to hone my diagnostic skills, but I believe what I see in Bove.
