I hope you know this already but in case you don’t, please don’t brag about being sighted, hearing, fully mobile, otherwise abled, etc … when you encounter Blind, Deaf, Mobility Impaired, otherwise disabled people in public … it’s not generally taken well by members of the disabled community.

Many of us (disabled people) take pride in our differences but we don’t need abled people altering us to their abled state when we, for instance, Are using a mobility ramp to get into a building.

Alt text was ratified as the official global standard for disabled access to the internet in 1999, over a quarter century ago. @bsky.app reminds every user when they upload content the importance of Alt text but many ignroe. There are even setting to remind you to use it so you don’t forgot.

Not to beat a dead horse as they say @zynkolion.bsky.social but as you can see, some people benefit from alt text even if you don’t. This is but one example.
