The tax base is still there but even in blue states there is a limit on how much they think they can raise taxes even to help only blue residents. I just hope that the issues are communicated clearly so people understand why taxes may need to go up.

Also when you point out that forcing blue states to extend supply chains in order to result all the rural hospitals without government support is not only ruinously expensive, but also catastrophic for the environment, so many people just plug their ears and go "NUH UH!"

It's frustrating because people are proposing a solution that is both economically sustainable and better for both the environment and blue states: spend the money to assist relocation rather than rescue rural areas. But then people have a conniption over that too.
