Welcome back, Senator Sherrod Brown... Ever the tireless warrior for the people in every state!
Welcome back, Senator Sherrod Brown... Ever the tireless warrior for the people in every state!
The best news! Bring his voice back where it will do the most good!
No!No!No! He's 76 years fckn old!! Retire already!!!
Yes, I like Brown but im also sick of 75 year olds who don’t know when to step away, this country is not going anywhere with a bunch of people who should be retired still running everything
Where’s the changing of the guard? Where’s the mentorship to bring fresh young leaders to our party?!? They’re just old & hungry to power & don’t know when to pass the baton or bring down the ladder! Enough!!
?
Well then you younger folks need to step it up and get serious.Get some guidance from those super smart old and tired intellectuals with real life and political experience.Your generation wasn't well prepared to run a government.Intellectual activity was not prized or rewarded in most of the USA.
The best in my generation were killed! What generation are you?
I don't have the titles down for the various Gens, but I was in college from '63--'66. Then law school '70-'73. Studied for the Bar during Watergate. I have grown children and school age grandchildren plus one infant.
We are still paying for Nixon's sins! If that were only resolved correctly there would not be a J6!
Your preferred candidate would be?
Remains to be seen!
Someone else, clearly someone younger and who’s not a lapdog to AIPAC or the DNC. The establishment just keeps giving us the same, ENOUGH!
Those "lapdogs" have nothing to do with age, more about an ignorant electorate! Trump being where he is, is a testament to that!
I agree it is not age related. Some of our more progressive thinkers are over 70 - Sanders. Some of our youngest cling to brutal, regressive and oppressive ideas - Miller. There are no "new ideas" even amongst the youngest & most progressive - AOC. A comprehensive safety net is an old, old concept.
This type of social safety net has been adopted by many countries. What has been done, can be done again.
I think unless we are invaded from outer space, it is unlikely we can work together on anything!
But still good in these most trying times!
I could not have had the life I built without the survivors benefits that President Eisenhower knew were needed. I never forgot those who like me knew poverty & knew it is preventable.
I had my time on that program when my dad had Dementia and they died not know what to do with him. Early trials to get diagnosed Alzheimer's! It was a bridge to help me stay in college!
I have two unrelated aunts who were not suffering dementia at 99. Dementia is a brain disease or collection of brain diseases for which we have no cures. And we won't be finding any cures without the NIH or NIMH now scrapped by the Dorftrottle and the former Muskateer.
The Pedofuhrer will never be any good for science or medicine
Nor anything else. He was never good for anything.
I surely agree. I do think he is dying, and has gotten the hint. He's worried about dying.
More than the basic fear, within his Dementia! Can't be a commander-in-chief of anything right now!
No kidding. But he has his Roy Cohn Wannabe to translate 2025 for him. So he can concentrate on his gold crap and ballroom.
No kidding. We are f--ked on that one. No, people will die.
Robert Reich is the same age as the Dorftrottle. So are Bill and Hillary, and Bernie is older. Whatever you think about Nancy Pelosi, she did not lose her mind at 79. Elizabeth Warren is 76. Jimmy Carter started to lose it at 100. So it is not universal to suffer dementia at 79 or 83 .
So the Orange Charlatan is special?
Special like Aaron Burr.
There are 86 year olds and 96 year olds whose brains have not succumbed to disease. They may be short in stamina and in height, but the brain still works better than in many 30 year olds.
Enough excuses! Retire!! Term limits and age limits now! No one after 65 years old, no exceptions!
Term limits, Yes Age limits, No
If we are living into our nineties, that would be a long retirement, not working. Some of us can be very capable and open minded into our 70s and 80s. And some may be physically limited but not mentally limited. And some may not have learned anything new since 1975.
That’s the reason why young generations are being denied opportunities to run for office because the ones in there don’t know how to pass the damn torch!!
I think you should consider primarying against the established older person. Torches don't get passed. Elections and reelections happen.
I've responded to you a couple of times basically on behalf of BoomersHaving gotten past that,it just hit me that we're wasting time talking about retirement age, when the real enemy to our wellbeing is back and forth between us.Let's leave the retirement issue aside for now and get rid of oligarchs
I am with you on that!
I would be in favor of retiring at 65, if I could live the rest of my life not worrying about healthcare, food, clothing, housing, internet, smart TV, 6 weeks paid vacation per year. No one is stopping you from running in a primary. Or supporting someone else's run.
I have to remind us that to stop working at 65 and then not work for the next and last 30 years of life must presume a life sustaining income and healthcare. They do it in Europe. Not in the USA.
I stopped working at 70, but not because I wanted to! My third knee replacement got in the way!
I also stopped working at 70. It was the commute I could no longer do. I needed 3 more years for the adequate pension. Just couldn't do it with physical issues. Lucky you to have three legs!
Only 1 and 3/4 legs on a good day! All three replacements were on one side.
The story is that Golda Meir advised her Assistant to tell her if she was starting to slide intellectually. That's missing here.We need to do that for one another. And, there is also testing.More than woman, television, elephant.after 70 yearly testing. There are ways to move folks to different roles.
But the culture in the US does not want anything from those retired and still able on some level!
They don't know what they are missing. I have a group of friends who write postcards together, those who safely can, will demonstrate.I have older friends whose opinions and suggestions are helpful.I marched in Selma, and seized the Administration Building at UofWisconsin protest against the draft.
Now I have a Dead Kennedys song stuck in my head, lol.
I am senator Sherrod Brown, my aura smiles I never frown.
