TT isn’t the only social media site in existence
Tell us you weren't a TT user without telling us
What's different about TT from other video sharing sites? (Not intended as a sarcastic or rhetorical question)
The algorithm at TT is uniquely good at fostering community. I think this is b/c the general philosophy is driving engagement and time (and thus revenue) by showing people what they will really like. Meta, otoh, seems to drive engagement and revenue more from clickbait/outrage and paid content
The communities there are unlike on other platforms. Your TT is extremely finely tuned to you. If someone tells you what TT is from a content perspective, they're telling you who they are, not what the platform is. And those communities can't just reappear elsewhere, it was a unique confluence
Do you think communities would rebuild on TT if it's shut down for a month, or if US accounts are deleted and everyone has to start over?
Some would, some wouldn't. Most would be altered forever, and probably not in good ways. I also fear that if they cut a deal with Trump, that they'll be required to make some sort of content changes to better foster right-wing creators, like Meta just did.
Form, compensation, function, compensation, userbase, compensation, integrated sales system, compensation and did I mention compensation?
The built-in video editing features alone set it apart from pretty much all of the alternatives.
