I am growing pumpkins for the 1st time & enjoying seeing how they morph from this bulb (ovary) under the female flowers into a plasticy-smooth, but vaguely pumpkin-direction sphere

Closeup photo of a yellow, vaguely tulip-shaped flower with green veining, coming out of a thick green vine over a roughly golfball-sized light green bead-like bulb. It's a flower on a pumpkin plant. Closeup photo of a yellow, wilted and wrapped tightly closed flower with green veining, coming out of a thick green vine over a roughly more-than-golfball-sized light green bead-like bulb. It's fruit on a pumpkin plant. Closeup photo of a light yellow sphere, smaller than a basketball and with a plastic-smooth surface, coming out of a thick green vine. It's a very young pumpkin on a pumpkin plant.
