This is always true, but particularly important to remember when one candidate's strongest supporters are historically the most likely to stay home on election day. It's easy to imagine a modest decline in enthusiasm translating to a collapse of Trump's electoral support.

Feels like a wild fantasy. But Cruz is the most dislikeable pol in national politics, and Trump just isn't exciting anymore. So, you've got to think there's a window. I think TX GOP's voter suppression machine wins out. But hey, who knows?

I'm almost afraid to say it out loud, but it reminds me of two anecdotes from reporters' books post-2016: Tur, with Trump saying 2 weeks out, "This doesn't feel like losing," & Chozick, with HRC's traveling press saying, "This doesn't feel like winning." The vibes had it right, not the polls.

It's a carnival in its 10th year of touring, and they haven't done anything to meaningfully update the show Some people will keep coming back forever as a source of nostalgia. But you'd expect the more casual fans to move on to something new Then again, I thought most would get bored by 2018
