Can't agree with you on this. Honolulu is building a light rail system and the property taxes are ridiculously high to pay for its construction. Paying close to 5000 a year for a property less than 5000 square feet. Try paying that on Social Security.

I’m not saying properly taxes are fair. Or recommending new build outs; talking about once construction is done, tickets don’t pay the bills. it’s better to have people riding than pay for it and have empty trains rattling around. Tickets can’t be priced to pay for that kind of infrastructure.

For less than 20 miles so far the total is 12.5 billion and counting. It is estimated that the cost per passenger will cost taxpayers $54 per person in a state that has one of the most expensive places to live. The taxpayer base is not large enough to make it sustainable.
