Whenever he dies, the evil he has set in motion will not cease, as those behind him will still hold power over the nation. The proponents of Project 2025, the techbros who have now discovered that immense wealth equals power, corporations now unfettered by regulation. That won't melt magically.

But they will. MAGAts are fully invested in the lies and who will they blame when trump dies from whatever reason? Will they suddenly have a rational awakening? What and who caused trump to stack the far right court? They will still be there pulling strings. Vance is fully the puppet of Peter Thiel.
They really don’t think the American people (MAGA or otherwise) will accept Vance, if Trump passes, at least for now. I was afraid of this forever, but JD turned out a really poor choice for them. So I look forward to it.
Vance will struggle to control the cult, when Trump could just rant and they'd make up stories to justify it or ignore it entirely. They will still vote and swing together but without the control you will lose a lot of the people who weren't political before Trump. At least that's my guess.
Sadly, I do not believe the people controlling the far right including voting regulation intend to allow fair voting again. The MAGAts are not the only power they have. They at least nominally have control of the military and much of the court system, especially the one that counts most.
That is the route they are going to go, but once MAGA feels betrayed their penchant for domestic terrorism is going to show itself very brightly. They radicalized that base and controlling it is a must to prevent that and that's a tall order without Trump.
It's not about being rational. It's that they don't trust anyone else. Vance is completely fake. Vance is a cardboard cut out of a person with zero personality. He's even less respected than Trump on the world stage and he doesn't scare the GOP the way Trump and MAGA do.
The courts, regulations, power positions are firmly in far right hands. Education, the non-taxability of the wealthy, the plundering of public lands, this will not magically be undone with the demise of Trump. Voting is at risk. Vance is a puppet, they hold the strings.
Yes they will! It looks like the cult is to Trump because he’s the current figurehead. But I grew up in what is now called MAGA country, raised by people I now call MAGAts. They were exactly as evil then as they are now. Nothing’s new except they have a figurehead now.

The point is, their hatred is not new, the evil deeds they perpetuate and support now were always what they wanted. Trump empowered them but their hatred will outlive him. Expecting the cult to break apart when Trump dies is naïve. They will back any Republican who hurts who they hate. Bet on it.
You are correct that they have always been and will continue to be hateful and do evil deeds. None of the rest of MAGA has the charisma or power to control them very well, like Trump. It won't magically end, but it will taper off to a point where we can fight it better.
The hatred isn't new. But do you think JD Vance has the ability to galvanize the cult? MAGA doesn't even like him. The "attraction" of Trump is that he is authentically a terrible person. Vance is an opportunist who will say whatever they tell him to say. Even MAGA sees through him.
My point is that it’s not the MAGA cult that’s empowering the fascism. It doesn’t matter if the rank-and-file are “galvanized”, the Heritage Foundation is still gonna have their agenda and Vance will dance because that’s where the power comes from.
