It seems like politics as we have it now is a circlejerk for circlejerkers. And I don't mean in the reddit sense. I have much more of the furious outsider in me: John Brown, Ambrose Bierce, Ralph Nader. Deep down, I am something like a cop. But more socially alienated. Just autistic rage.

I have a lot more sympathy for lone wolf gunmen than I do for political "people pleasers." And that's partly due to my own social incompetence. I can at least understand how to do what Timothy McVeigh did, even if it's stupid & evil. I don't think I have a caucus leader in me.

But I also think our Congress has too much centralized authority in itself, over vast territory, while being small & remote. Pols become *person* pleasers, never mind how they hurt the people. Or the country itself. Never mind the future, there are "relationships" to maintain in that building. 🤮

And here's the problem, I guess: Civil servants, bureaucrats, cops, they have rules to follow & enforce. A lot of that works. The supposed top-level rulemakers are the wrong people, because fat cats pay to put the wrong kind of person in--but maybe also because it's the wrong system.

The GOP was built, originally, for fat cats to reshape the country. (But they needed progressive weirdos to get a coalition.) I suppose the Constitutional Convention was somewhat the same. 😕 I don't know.

I do know that we need politicians who *can* think, & I do try to think, even if I don't think well. I feel like I'm much more temperamentally suited to acting like a menace. But a terrifying angel of death is not a solution in itself. Hurm.
