The alternative is concentration camps. Newsom has bigger fish to fry and would largely leave trans people alone. I’m Tx redneck and I am NOT going to sit and watch ANYONE lose their rights. ALL of the republicans will. They are the enemy of the people. You have an ally,but 86/47 has to happen!
Trans rights are a pretty big fish to fry for trans people. I do agree, we need opposition to maga - but when that opposition is parroting right-wing disinformation about trans people that is designed to further the attacks on our rights, then trans people will push back. Dems can/should do better
I agree that Trans rights are extremely important. My comment was simply that there are a great many things that mango mussolini has done that must be undone and if Newsom were to be elected I don't think stripping trans rights would be on his agenda. Leaving it to the states would be a start.
States shouldn't get to dictate what people can or can't do with their own bodies - 'states rights' is exactly how women last their right to bodily autonomy on the federal level - and we can see exactly where that ended up and is continuing to head. There should be zero compromise from D's on this

Newsom is laying the groundwork to oppress trans people even more - some of the things he's said recently are HIGHLY concerning that any trans person following politics who understands the impact of the rhetoric he's joining in on will not vote for him (or should not). He's placating to transphobia
I do get it - from non-trans folks who are largely unaffected directly by anti-trans rhetoric, it feels like, 'why cant they just vote for my guy now so that we can save them from the camps and hopefully nudge trans rights in the right direction in the future', but that is not how it works
We can protect trans people and our rights, AND also fight back. In fact, that is *how* we fight back! They are using the trans community as a scapegoat - and adding a veil of validity to their blatant disinformation about us (like with our healthcare) is only further strengthening the permission-
structure that allows for our oppression. I don't care if you personally don't think Newsom would come after us - he is saying to everyone else who *does* want to come after us that 'maybe you have a point'. Like, fuck that. Nothing against you in particular, I'm just so fucking done being polite
I still appreciate your allyship 🏳️⚧️ - just want you to understand why, from the perspective of trans people, rallying around Newsom is not at all a good thing for us, even if he ends up winning. He's further validating everyone's 'concerns' about our participation in society. That's so so harmful
