It was made as a Twitter side project for "decentralized" web3 bullshit. It was created by Twitter founder, cryptobro and friend of Nazis Jack Dorsey. The CEO has a previous career in cryptocurrencies and the main funding partner is "Blockchain Capital". They also refuse to ban trash like Signal
Based on the fact that @aaron.bsky.team and @jay.bsky.team are friends with transphobe Jesse Singal and whitelisted him, I'd say this site was made for transphobes, "concerned" liberals, etc. They just finally have enough critical mass to force all us dirty queers out like on tumblr and twitter.
Folks really out here saying "it takes 10 seconds" to people that havent been equipped with how to ask that question or where to look for those answers. Nb4 "10seconds" means ChatGPT
I asked ChatGPT what Bluesky was made by and for, and it said the Almond Brothers made it about blue skybirds and sunny mourning....I think this is going to take more than 10 seconds.
Sounds like one of those different websites with the name bluesky. Theres like at least 5 for some reason
This means nothing to me and Jack's Wikipedia page doesn't say anything that might point towards what you've been alluding to, so I too have no idea what I'm supposed to have learned from my 10 seconds of research
Any assumption that bluesky was ever an ethical platform we can expect to maintain a high moral standard (what the original commenter said), is based on far less research than just googling "Jack Dorsey crypto"
Fair enough, no idea how people are supposed to find that without being told though. Just showing Jack Dorsey to someone who knows nothing about him doesn't say anything of value
That makes sense and is different from the "founded for nazis" implication of the other post
Like damn googling "who started bluesky" and clicking the literal first link gives you the answer straight up
I know Jack Dorsey started Bluesky. That's not the same thing as "who he started it for." (It's weird I have to explain that.) To be clear, the guy I was responding to believes Dorsey started Bluesky to be a nazi haven. You don't have to be a Dorsey fan to know how stupid and unrealistic that is.
Now, was Bluesky started to be a place free of nazis? I have no idea, but probably not. Are there people who wrongly believe it was started for that reason becuase of who mostly uses it? Probably. But that's not the same thing as the obvioulsy defamatory accusation that he started it for nazis.
"Like damn," actually reading the posts you're responding to produces more coherent posts than whatever you're doing.
But I mean, if you want to join team defamation, have at it. This thread isn't significant enough for Dorsey to sue you all over.
