I do agree I'm asking people (including myself) to align with people they don't want to align with. I don't like Newsom (for many reasons, starting with trans issues). But my trans daughter is way more fucked under Trumpism than any alternative. I'll fight it out with the Newsoms when we're free.
Maybe the issue is you don't yet accept that American democracy no longer exists. If that's where you are, I can see why you're having trouble getting on board with fighting authoritarianism at all costs. You'll likely get there, but it may not be until after the Trump people come for you.
I accept it. I just don’t care. Democracy means nothing when people don’t have civil rights. The Nazis came to power by way of democracy. So did Trump. Slavery and segregation were enacted democratically. They were abolished undemocratically. You have chosen to submit to authoritarianism.
