Since Labour came in to government, a lot of effort has been placed in to strengthening the relationship between the UK and Norway, especially in defence. Not only does that help protect both countries, but it leads to economic boosts - like this where Norway sign off on a warship partnership. 1/2

It is expected to be worth £10bn to the UK, supporting 4k UK jobs, including over 2k in Scotland. It will see the UK supply Norway with Type 26 frigates designed for anti-submarine warfare - the same as the Royal Navy uses - allowing for better strategic cooperation across the North Sea. 2/2

Important too, Russia has a presence on Norwegian islands in the Arctic and are obviously looking to exploit this militarily, it could be an area of confrontation with NATO.
